Experio University is working with Study Group Higher Education to offer some carefully selected pathway programmes which will enable international school leavers to enter a recognised UK university with a conditional offer for a first degree or Master’s course of their choice.
What are International Study Centres?
International Study Centres are dedicated spaces (on or close to the campus of each university) where we help you prepare for university study and adjust to your life in the UK. Our experienced staff will give you a warm welcome, arrange social and orientation activities, and provide the high quality academic and English language tuition you need to prepare for degree study.
What are the benefits of degree preparation programmes?
Not every education system is the same, so some international students find it tough to complete the presentations, essays and independent research required by UK universities. A pathway programme will introduce you to the type of learning you can expect if you progress to your degree.
Taking a pathway programme at an International Study Centre will:
- help you build confidence in your English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills
- equip you with the academic knowledge and study skills you will need on your degree programme
- help you develop key career skills so you can nd your dream job after you graduate
Pathway Programmes at International Study Centres include:
International Foundation Year
For students who need more support with their academic skills or English language level. This three-term programme will help you settle into a new education system, develop the English language skills and subject knowledge needed to progress to the first year of an undergraduate degree.
International Year One
For students with good grades and an intermediate English level. This two or three-term programme (equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree) will boost your study skills and prepare you for entry into the second year of a degree programme. This means you get extra support, without adding extra study time.
If you already hold an undergraduate degree or in some cases, a diploma, from a university in another country, this two or three term-programme will help you to develop high-level academic English language, study skills and specific subject knowledge before you progress to your postgraduate degree.
International Study Centre Pathway Programmes
Each International Study Centre programme comprises three components to meet the specific needs of international students like you. The three components of teaching are:
- English language – to improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills to help you gain all-round con dence in using degree-level English
- Academic subjects – you can select different subject areas based on the degree programme you would like to progress to
- Study skills – including essay writing, critical thinking and giving presentations
The majority of our courses include an integrated employment skills programme, CareerAhead, helping you to develop the skills needed to succeed in your chosen career.
