Academic Year in the UK

An opportunity to study within one of the best school systems in the world

We are delighted to offer students the opportunity to study within one of the best school systems in the world.

This programme offers an academic year at a UK state school in a choice of locations throughout the country. Shorter stays (i.e. 1 or 2 terms) are available at some schools on request.

This programme provides an affordable alternative to studying at an independent UK school. Many academic year students use their stay in the UK as a “springboard” to their future educational and career aspirations – i.e. studying at a UK or international university where high level English language and study skills are a requirement, or with a view to being able to work anywhere in the world where an advanced level and understanding of the English language is a definite advantage.

Programme Requirements:

  • students must be from European Economic Area (EEA)
  • students will normally need at least an intermediate level of English i.e. B1 / IELTS 5.5 or higher in order to participate fully in lessons and gain the maximum benefit from this experience
  • minimum age is 11 and maximum age is 18
  • academic year starts in September and ends in late July
  • all students are required to complete a detailed application form – with educational, medical, family and personal history, as well as academic achievements

A suitable school is then selected according to the student’s achievements and preferences.

School Locations

We have carefully chosen the locations of our partner schools to ensure the highest quality of education and care.

All the schools selected for this programme are inspected and graded: 1 (outstanding) / 2 (good) / 3 (Satisfactory) by Ofsted which is the UK government office for standards in education, children’s services and skills (www.ofsted.gov.uk)

The schools are located in small towns and city suburbs (rather than in inner-city areas) in most regions of the UK with excellent local transport systems which allow students easy access from their host-family to their school as well as to all the local amenities e.g. shops, cafés, parks, sports centre, swimming pool, museums and other attractions (see map link below).

Host Family Accommodation

Students live with carefully selected and DBS (Police) checked host families for the duration of their stay. All families live within close proximity of the school so that students can either walk or take a local bus each day. Half board accommodation is provided during the week and full board at weekends. Students should make their own accommodation arrangements during the school half-term (usually 1 week in February, May and October) and end of term holidays (Easter and Christmas), either returning to their home country or staying with family friends in the UK.

Text Books & School Uniform

School placement and text books are included in the programme. Students will be expected to wear the school uniform up to 5th Form / Y11 and we can assist students in purchasing this before arrival.

Local Organiser / Guardian

Students will be under the care of our Local Organisers / Guardians who usually live no more than 30-40 minutes from the students and their schools. They will provide reports during the year to advise of the students’ progress at school, as well as assisting in all host family / accommodation matters. They also arrange the airport transfers on arrival and departure and for the Christmas holidays (half terms and Easter are not included).

Academic Year Fees: £9950
