ISC Summer School at Haileybury CollegeSummer Courses for Young Learners & Teenagers (8th July - 11th August)
Haileybury College & International Student Club
Haileybury College is a leading co-educational boarding school, founded in 1862. It is situated in a stunning 500-acre private campus just 20 miles north of London.
ISC has run an international summer school at Haileybury for 21 years and provides fun, educational courses for up to 400 students at a time. Internationality is guaranteed and each year there are students from over 20 different countries.
Haileybury is the perfect location for a summer school. Set in beautifully green English countryside, the campus provides a very safe environment for students. However, the close proximity to London means easy access to all of the fantastic areas of the vibrant capital and beyond (see link to location map below).
While on campus students have access to: a fully equipped sports complex, acres of sports fields, tennis courts, a 25-metre heated swimming pool, theatres and disco room. There are many large, indoor spaces which can be used in wet weather. There is a tuckshop for students to relax in and snacks and drinks are available every evening.
Residential accommodation is in one of the College’s 12 spacious, and regularly refurbished, boarding houses. Each house has its own unique character with a mixture of modern and more traditional buildings. Single-sex houses can accommodate up to 60 students each. There is 24-hour supervision in houses, so staff are never far away should the students need them. Younger students tend to be housed in the multi-bedded rooms which sleep 3-8, whereas the older students are usually roomed in the single and twin rooms. All bed linen is provided and changed each week. Each boarding house has a common room, where boys and girls are free to get together to play games, watch DVDs and socialise with their international housemates.
All meals are eaten in the large, wood-panelled dining hall, which wouldn’t look out of place on a Harry Potter set. Haileybury is very proud of its award-winning chefs, who regularly compete in national competitions. The food is plentiful and wholesome and is all cooked on-site. There is always a choice between meat or fish and a vegetarian option with a variety of vegetables or tasty salads. The pasta bar, offering a selection of pasta and sauces, is also a popular choice. English puddings are excellent and fresh fruit is available with every meal. It is a nut-free campus and all special dietary requirements are routinely catered for. After evening activities there is a light supper available in the boarding houses before bed.

General English Programme
Students receive 15 hours of General English, British Culture and Project lessons per week. We have an excellent team of experienced, professional and friendly teachers. We were awarded a strength for teaching in our recent British Council inspection.
Our English lessons are interesting and fun and focus on improving communication skills. We want to help our students improve in confidence and fluency when using English. Students practise all communication skills and pronunciation, but there is a focus on spoken production. We use our own range of interactive and interesting course materials, which are constantly updated by our creative teaching team.
In British Culture classes, students learn about the British way of life, food and music. Students also prepare for their excursions, where they can practise all the English they learnt in class!. In Project classes, our students work with their international classmates to create a drama Project which culminates in an exciting Project show at the end of the course.
Our teachers care about helping each individual student to progress and they use a variety of motivating activities, materials and technology in class. Learning is fun at ISC and we want to help our students learn and use English to the best of their abilities.
